>>211396867Probably a little memoryholed; it's imo one of the best shows ever to incorporate current events and political humor without being distasteful. Problem is, it also unironically requires a decent IQ and an ability to laugh at oneself. People who cannot take a joke have never enjoyed it when I show it to them, especially those who consider themselves political/cultural crusaders whom I'd expect to appreciate the banter and subtext.
Seinfeld similarly had current event references that are kind of lost to time, so (re)watching with my parents is still fun since they remember different trivia from various eps, but Seinfeld is by far more accessible. I explain references to my zoomer brother for AD now, since a lot of the Iraq war sentiments occurred when he was a baby.
My dad watched it when it aired, but I was like 10 at the time and the humor entirely went over my head. I still remember wondering why he was laughing at the unfunny adult show. Besides him, only my hs teacher had watched, enjoyed, and remembered it, even playing clips of Gob dancing to final countdown in class.
