Is there any worse fate than working on a show you hate and don't have the passion with anymore, as it's the only think you know?

The episodes they actually work on are still pretty good and funny, but most of the time these days they're just doing voice work while working on other projects.
I think they still like it but have other interests like being old

>is there a worse fate than making shitloads of money, investing in a trust fund for not just your children, but your children's children, their children, and so forth--your entire dynasty line, and becoming the godlike figure who 200 years from now your bloodline hails as the great savior who lifted your Family up to greatness
gee op i dunno

I mean they spend most of the year not actually working on the show so that's not the problem. It's definitely just a "we still want money" thing and they just write less.

Their passion for the past few years has been concentrated on getting Casa Bonita reopened.

For those of you that say Matt Stone is a greedy merchant. I say no way he's even 50%. Not even a half Jew would waste $30+ million on that dump.

I don't think that's the case. He's admitted several times he never expected to make it past the first season. Its not his fault Comedy Central or Hulu or Netflix or whatever is pulling up dump trucks of money for his show.
Animation is his niche and break into showbusiness, but the guy is a talented musician, screenwriter, creative head, director, on-screen talent and amazing voice actor. Trey's voice is absolutely hilarious, even more so than Matt's. I don't think its a Lucy Maude Montgomery situation where he absolutely hates Anne of Green Gables and wishes he never created South Park; I think the only thing he probably hates is the stress and the pressure of creating each episode in less than six days but its working under such pressure is how he is able to thrive and create. I'm sure dealing with network heads and censors are way worse than making the show, which is probably why the video games were such hits because they didn't have to worry about such restrictions.
Its now gotten to the point where there are only a few episodes a year now and now they've gotten into stretching them out into mini-features. He's like James Cameron at this point in his career where the show is now a side bitch and simply is what he does to fund his other interests and endeavours like Casa Bonita and musicals.

He has all the money he could ever need plus regular income if he somehow lost it, he could have ended the show at any time or just walked away. Zero sympathy.

The guy put a piece of shit on television that hopped around the screen and sang Christmas songs while wearing a Santa cap. The guy won after that accomplishment. And that was only the end of the first season.

It's pretty based that they're going all in on a passion project. Apparently they were advised that place will never make the cost of renovations back, but they don't give a shit since they love it, and I'd probably do the same if there was some weird place I loved.

why do people say this like a 9-5 isn't exactly that except you make no money, no one knows or cares about you, and there's nothing to verify you even existed in the first place.

Hurts more to see acts of passion and expression be turned into rote mechanized work that you are forcing yourself to do.

i imagine it does hurt a bit, but one can just compartmentalize the 'good times'. a lot of creators have their own personal favorite eras of their own output they can fondly look back on

but indeed in matt and trey's case, they openly hate the early days of south park so they really do have nothing aside from the money it makes them
