This is like the peak civilian mindset - "oh, but why do I pay respect, I don't like them". Doesn't matter one fucking bit. It's your superior and/or a commander giving you an order.
It's twice ironic when alt-righters throw a tantrum about it, when they on surface level are all about order and respect, but when it comes to actually following the rules, they throw a temper tantrum.
Which, in turn, why DI has to be harsh to the recruit. Either force them to quit, or make them learn the rules. This is not rocket science.
