Seems to be pretty hit-or-miss. I think it's the best thing ever televised, but a lot of people can't get into the slow pace and I get that. Agree with the other anon that it's above The Sopranos, although the shows are very similar in their themes and presentation I just think Mad Men does it better.
It's all about dialogue and internal motion, entirely character-driven show. The writing is incredible and everything that is said or done has multiple meanings. Plus as a period piece it's a cool way to take in history.

I used to watch Mad Men while I lied in bed with my ex-girlfriend in her little apartment at college. It's hard to watch now even though years have gone by. I've found another woman and I love her, even dated her longer at this point, but it's not the same.
