Apparently pasolini wants to make something as le allegory of muh fascism (again) and now instead of adapting 120 days of sodom 1:1 to screen he took the idea of allegory and incorporate it to his own movie. But any chuds who have watched his previous 'trilogy of life' should have known by now that pasolini is a sneaky gay chud that use film medium to also incorporate his sexual taste in there. Except he manages to balance it out in the previous trilogy and doubled it down in salo. What makes salo 'work' is that series of coincidence that happened after the film release, that he later got killed, this film being his last, its stupidly transgressive, and critics overanalyzed his film before hailed it as a work of art to this day
