i agree for the naked gun sequel, but a spaceball sequel all these years later makes sense. there are new star wars films even worse than the originals so lets make fun of them and make some money. even if the new spaceballs has nothing to do with the original or poorly made, it will only add to the critique since that's true of the new star wars shit

No, they literally can't. Everyone with an ounce of creativity has been driven out of pretty much every creative field by a combination of shareholders demanding a safe return on their investment, and the paranoid PC culture that viciously attacks anything that even slightly deviates from the guidelines they set up to protect their feelings. The only thing left that can possibly work under these conditions are watered down remakes of IPs that have already established massive fanbases from back when creativity was still allowed. The problem is that they've run out of culturally relevant IPs to run into the ground so now they have to try to continue this mess with IPs that used to be culturally relevant but aren't anymore and just hope that everyone under 40 is interested in it because they've heard these titles mentioned in passing a few times when they were kids.
