I don't really get the iphone gimmick though. I assume the top of the line iphone has a pretty good camera. So most people won't even notice it. And those who do will get a movie that looks slightly worse than the standard. What's the point? 28 days later was filmed with a gimmicky camera but that movie looks obviously bad and can't ever be remastered so it's not the same thing.

Because the first movie was shot on a "consumer" camera back in 2001. The logic being it was a camera anyone could have had/used, just like a smartphone camera today. Back in the early 2000s; if you wanted to be able to shoot video at home, then you had to buy a camcorder. Almost nobody buys, let alone uses, camcorders anymore in 2025.

It's one of the first movies in a while where I think they've generally held a majority of the scenes and plot details back from the trailers.

I can't remember the last time during a film's marketing where I hadn't sussed out the entire plot from the first trailer. Any capeshit that gets made is obvious example.
