Their helmets are built for protection not visual clarity. Why do they even have armor if it doesn't do anything to stop laser shots? I don't even watch these movies but from what little I have seen these guys might as well not be wearing anything at all.

Because they were instructed not to. Besides them allowing the escape on the death star in episode iv storm troopers have no problems hitting their targets. Even in disney’s nu wars slop the first time we see storm troopers they completely ace that village.
