It's not supposed to be some high-concept scifi exploring morality. It was a fresh premise for a fun light-hearted adventure that worked in a nostalgic aspect for the pre-boomers with the 50s setting, and a decent amount of comedy and a consistent tone throughout. It was well-written, well-acted, and generally well-executed. It did what it set out to do.
