Is this one of those 'you had to be there' things? It's fucking awful.
Nah, it's pure kino for retards and geniuses
I enjoy it, but not on the level of some other popular edgy adult cartoons. That said, B&B-H have some of the best character designs in animation, which is pretty impressive considering Mike Judge was self taught and didn't even start out as an artist.
Beavis & Butt-head Do America is absolute kino
The first couple of seasons are pretty rough, but got better over time. The movie and the last season of the original one are hilarious, and the reboot and new movie are just as good imo. Especially middle aged B&BH
My dad suddenly liked it maybe we watched the movie together I’m not sure but we bonded over it. Pretty good memory that I just recalled from this thread. He was a workaholic so it was nice to have some this.
It's never laugh out loud hilarious, but when you watch enough episodes at some point it clicks and you start giggling with them. Some jokes are really subtle, they only make sense when you're in the same state of mind as them.
>>211434814Nah, nostalgia is mostly blinding your real opinion
>>211435851nope. i watched it recently and they have some genius moments of comedy in that movie
>>211435892It's alright. I have the laserdisc and I put it on sometimes. I think those characters work best in short bursts when critiquing music videos
>>211433431 (OP)uh…this thread sucks. huhuhuhuh.
>>211433431 (OP)I understand your frustration
Part of it is you had to be there yes. The “cultural mindset” of young people in the US was very different and hard to explain. It was also very different to pretty much anything else that had ever been on television. Imagine being forced to watch sickly sweet sitcoms with your family all the time, and game shows and shit. You are 12 and desperately want some edge in your life and as far as television goes, very little exists. I dunno like i said it’s hard to explain, this show just hit a cultural itch. Watching now it can still be funny and clever but it just hit different when it aired originally. Honestly most comedy is like that though.
>First reboot (season 8)
>Do America
>Original (seasons 4-7)
>Second reboot (9-10)
>Do the universe
>Original (season 1-3)
>>211433431 (OP)It's funny except for when they riff over the music videos.
My favorite bit/joke from the series:

Season 6 is peak. The new Paramount stuff is pure aids.
>>211436565Why didn't you like that? That was dope. Also it was the era when Beavis had an autistic fixation on arson and MTV shut it down because some retard burned down his trailer home or something
>>211433431 (OP)I loved it as a kid. Then I went back to it 20 years later, and their laughter really annoyed me at first. But it only lasted for several minutes. Once I got past it, it was still pretty excellent.
>>211433431 (OP)I shat myself when the hippy teacher fell out of the bus.

>>211436439>The “cultural mindset” of young people in the US was very different and hard to explainI dunno, B&B are 2 retards who don't respect anything or anyone (except their local drug dealer), and think they're smarter than everyone despite being obviously retarded. My favorite running gag is when Beavis dimly grasps a concept, only to be "corrected" by Butthead.
Uhhhhhh you're like kinda cringe huhuhuhuhuhuhuhuhuhu
The music video commentary was always the best part, and that gets cut out of the old episodes because they don't have the music rights or whatever
The new series is pretty fuckin good too

For me, at least the old episodes anyway, the humor was in how when something happened you already know how they’re going to react to it. And you could say that it’s predictable but it was different, it was like predictable on purpose in the funniest way.
This was actually great stuff. Even the sequel was good which was shocking considering I expected a full butchering in the modern day.
>>211433940This. You're probably like 120 IQ, OP. You need to be sub 100 or above 140 to get it.
>>211436717New Paramount stuff is actually fantastic. It's starts off roughly but episodes like the drivers license one, the Amazon one, tobacco farmers.. those are modern classics.
The new movie is fucking dogshit but i like new seasons especially the first one
>>211439380Yeah the movie isn't the best but at least it's silly and it does tie to the new show. Also I dunno if you guys watched Volume 4. I think that was their first HD series and they would make fun of MTV reality shows instead of music videos.
