why do star wars fans HATE the last jedi?
i'm 19 and just getting around to watching all these movies for the first time,

i had no childhood connection to them. it is pretty good
and the first half is empowering + there are.

problematic things like the oscar isaac being misogynist to purple haired woman but like.


whatever. it was WAAAY less boring than the prequels. in my current marathon of the franchise;

episode 7 are my favorite, the prequel movies is my least favorite.
i think there are cool moments here with snooke,

luke's renouncing of the force makes sense,
rey is badass,
adam driver is sexy as kylo. idk,

i'm not a Star Wars nerd so I didn't love it but solid 8/10

Star Wars "fans" are highly autistic, and they also have impossible standards, so if a movie is not as good as le perfect OT, then it's automatically the worst movie ever.

From a completely objective point of view, The Last Jedi is a 7/10.

Holdo's character and storyline were handled badly.
She fucked up big time in the end, and it cost countless rebels their lives, and then her own. The last thing she did was the only thing she did right. Even though it didn't kill Hux or Kylo or stop the First Order, at least it killed her.

fans hate that it didn't hold luke in supreme reverence. nor they didnt like that there wasn't a linear hero's journey. they felt TLJ wasn't sticking close enough to the star wars formula -- which ironically they've all been bored of anyway.

all the other things you said have nothing to do with how a star wars fan would consume the film. they don't care about any of that. they're only interested in comparing the movie to whichever movie they liked more. there was never any chance that TLJ, or any of the sequels, would have been judged by its own merits or failings. star wars fans don't have that kind of brain
