If you don't know he has a YouTube channel where he made Backrooms into a series using Blender so it looks realistic enough and pumped a bunch of lore, etc. into it and it blew up and got tens of millions of views and generally praised highly. I think they are alright, he has too much Mr. Robot influence IIRC. I'm still salty that I put two or three months of my life into making a Backrooms video, put it on YouTube, and was met with a collective yawn and barely any views. But that's how it goes sometimes. Meanwhile, a stupid 30 second video I put out a decade ago of the earth exploding has nearly 300K views and doesn't earn me a dime. C'est la vie.

The biggest obstacle in making a Backrooms movie would be the set. You'd have to make it from scratch, and it needs to be huge since it's a location you'd need to milk for 90 minutes straight. Only a film studio with its own sound stage would have the budget to do that

What's the alternative? You can't just have it be a Blender animation, this is supposed to be a feature-length film. It needs to be live-action. And you can't just film it at an actual empty retail space. The Backrooms is too specific to just easily find in the wild (yellow carpet, specific yellow wallpaper pattern, fluorescent lighting, no furnishing or windows)

That is not really a problem anymore with AI like Veo3. You can make a movie with the backrooms because there isn't a lot of variety in the sets. Meaning that you could instead focus on everything else and AI now handles that pretty well.
