This is THE most 2007-feeling movie of all time. The iphone came out two months later and this film in hindsight is like a quaint, melancholy time capsule into the old world. This version of earth is such a fuzzy memory it's hard to believe such a reality even existed in our lifetime. Life not only changed almost immediately after this year but filmmaking did as well, with the introduction of the MCU the next year effectively killing this entire style of movie and prematurely ending the culture of the 2000's.

TL;DR Disturbia was the last pre-timeline shift, old earth dimension movie.

I can't tell if that's a CGI tree in front of the house.

It's funny, too, because it also shows how little things have really progressed, outside of the social media and phone aspect of life. Compare today to Disturbia, then compare Disturbia to a film from 1989.

You're onto something. I sometimes think about it and come to the same conclusions.

it's too bad it was Shia and not someone who could actually act

Shia was perfect for that role though. He's a bit of a schizo and his character is locked in his house all summer.

Fuck off Shia would be the premiere actor of his generation if he actually got to work.

Very good movie and stands up to Rear Window

This screenplay even though it goes full slasher tier necksnapper at the end would be considered cannes winner level today kek
