Which is basically you have to run away and if you could have avoided a problem by running away and you stood your ground YOU will be the one in trouble. You also cannot be the aggressor inside your own home so you basically have to wait until something happens. There is also no SYG law the applies to anything but a residential home in New York so if you get mugged outside, in your car or at work, well your shit out of luck. Idaho, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Iowa, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Virginia, Vermont, and Washington, D.C are also states with next to no or actual no SYG laws.
On the good end of the spectrum Texas, as one could imagine has probably the best, most robust SYG laws along with Florida. Both requiring zero retreat before you can use deadly force and their laws apply to your car and at work. Laws in Florida do not even require your threshold to have a roof, so you can feel safe in your tent. Alabama, Arizona, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Montana, Nevada, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Utah, and Washington have similar or at least decently strong SYG laws as well. Choose your home location wisely.
