>>211440687 (OP)>daily hundreds of people go missing or die and no one cares. There are? Last I checked the circumstances are investigated to the fullest ability of the authorities based on the evidence available, especially if there is any evidence available that those missing people are in fact still alive, in distress and able to be saved.
>suddenly the navy and coastguard send out planes, ships and divers. Not only were these people and their circumstance known for sure to the authorities and the public, but going missing in a sub is very easily a situation where they could have remained alive but have been trapped and been in desperate need of rescue, with a dire but fully possible window of opportunity for how long that could last.
Are you seriously scratching your head at the idea that some random drug-addicted hooker that went missing two weeks ago (but was only reported as "missing" to the authorities now because nobody even suspected she was "missing" rather than just off on another bender) with zero leads on her whereabouts or even any indication that she is in fact still alive but in distress gets LESS attention and urgency than a known handful of people (including a family) being trapped at the bottom of the ocean with a dwindling window on remaining time to rescue them?
...Are you genuinely stupid? Or are you just moderately stupid but also desperately looking for instances that you can paint as some sort of societal moral outrage in order to get the epic social-media Updoots?
