We have complicated shots and many types of post-production. Elements of meta-cinema.

It was an entertaining film, which is the only thing that matters at the end of the day. But it was incredibly pretentious and pointlessly bleak. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Lars von Trier strikes me as a mentally ill pervert, and has probably sexually assaulted women before. The Idiots was a terrible movie though

I still haven't seen it. I loved Breaking the Waves, Dancer in the Dark, Dogville, Manderlay and The House That Jack Built. Anti-Christ and Melancholia had their moments but I wasn't as much a fan of those two. Should I watch Nymphomaniac today? Should I pick something else from his filmography?

It was a fine film and Lars is a brilliant filmmaker; the concept of a whore explaining how she became a whore and the whore adventures being a whore, but good and ugly, don't make me sympathize with her, like at all.
