>Character walks up to sink and splashes water on their face when they're stressed
So people actually do this or is it just a /tv/ trope?
People do, but you shouldn't you'd rust.
Yeah it's called washing your face, you should try it sometime
>character is 'stressed', looking at himself in the bathroom mirror
>no obvious 5 oclock shadow and poor hygeine
>no sweat stains on his business shirt
>doesn't maddog himself for a solid minute
unwatchable
>>211442335 (OP)I call myself a stupid nigger faggot and tell myself to kill myself and flip myself off.
>>211442335 (OP)I only do it when I'm alone and Daydreaming/LARPing because I've seen it in the movies. I also do a "silent scream" to sell it more. I like playing scenes from movies.
>character stares at self in mirror
>character doesn't get lost in cringe memories from his teenage years
>character doesn't punch self in the head 5+ times minimum
Immersion ruined
>>211442335 (OP)>when they're stressedNo, its when they're sweating and that usually happens when they're stressed.
>>211442335 (OP)I've only had one panic attack in my life, and when I did, I went into a public bathroom and did this
>>211442335 (OP)I actually do it. Especially at my previous job when i was overstressed
>>211442335 (OP)I like to do this and pretend Iām in a movie.
>>211442335 (OP)sometimes they buzz their hair off too
>>211442335 (OP)I don't splash it on my face and in turn, splash it all over my clothes. I gently cup an amount of water with both hands and bring my face down into it. Not because I'm stressed, but just to wash my face every time I go to the restroom.
>>211444331You're fine with washing your hands with it but not your face?
>>211444331Quintessentialy thirdie post.
i splash my face with water often, and then i stare into my own eyes in a distressed way for half a minute maybe and then punch my reflection so hard it breaks the mirror. i might scream and i thrash some other stuff in the bathroom or an adjacent room too if i feel like it. then i sit on the floor and look at a worn photograph of a dead loved one and sob for a while. might drink vodka straight out the bottle. i do this maybe twice or trice a week usually.
>>211442335 (OP)I do it when I'm tired, I find it helps me wake up.
>>211442335 (OP)Yeah, I splash a little cold water on my face and neck sometimes at work. It's comforting and invigorating. Especially if it's a rough day.
>>211442335 (OP)I do it, I don't "splash" my face tho, I put water in my hands and rub that on my face. Or wet a paper towel and then dab it on my face
>>211446338They should send you to a school for the deaf
>>211442335 (OP)I keep a pitcher of water on my desk and dip my hands in it and splash myself in the face often dozens of times a day
>>211442335 (OP)I occasionally do but it's when I'm both tired and sleep deprived and in the middle of a shift at work.
>>211442398I smile and give myself a thumbs up because I'm a good person.
>>211442335 (OP)Splashing cold water on your face triggers the mammalian dive reflex, which will help to calm you down.
When the facial nerves detect cold water in mammals it triggers a biological response called the diving reflex, decreasing heart rate, constricting blood vessels and diverting blood to the vital organs. This happens for obvious reasons and in animals like seals this relex is very strong. It can also be calming and reduce anxiety if done while under stress.
>>211442335 (OP)I've done it when I've felt tired. I've never been in a situation where I've felt stressed and felt compelled to splash water in my face. I guess it might feel great.
>>211444906your mirror bill must be huge
>>211442468did you do it because you'd seen it in films
