Looking for a good show to watch.
I hear Barry drops off a steep cliff after season 2. Should I just watch the first two seasons?

Barry is definitely worth watching to the end. I do think the first two seasons are better than the last two

Well just naming shit off the top of my head.
The Shield, Rome, The Wire, Sopranos, Seinfeld, Curb, Leftovers, Profit, Maniac, Better Call Saul, The Terror. Shit like that.

Season 3 and 4 aren't as nearly as good as the first two seasons but they aren't outright bad, just sort of directionless. Covid hit them hard for whatever reason. I'm going to wait another couple of years and watch it all again, the episodes are like 25 minutes long so it's pretty easy to blast through it.

Barry is good. The last season is different but not terrible

Damn ngl you like a lot of kino lad. Of you're up for sci fi I'd highly recommend Fringe. One of the most underrated shows of all time. The first half of S1 is up and down but it has everything comedy, character development, great dialogue, decent amount of action and some serious feels/drama

i was on board until the very ending. but yes, like most shows, it does drop the ball.

imo that is what distinguishes the holy trinity of the wire/breaking bad/sopranos from everything else: they go hard from the start to the end with no (or, only very minor) breaks.

especially the wire, which imo has the best ending of the 3, and imo is the best and only and most canonical example of what a "bittersweet ending" should be. every other show either shits itself or ends on a cliff hanger or ends by kicking you in the nards. the wire is the only bittersweet one.

and ofc you may wanna add some more shows to the holy trinity, but those 3 are the generally accepted, so im only mentioning them.

Yup. iirc it's based on a danish book. Recent netflix slop rate rather high, I'd probably rate it at ~7.8. But when you've watched pretty much everything worth watching you can't be too picky.

Do not listen to this poster, who I suspect might be Bill Hader, he is lying. The dropoff is arguably the hardest in TV history. Seasons 3 and 4 devolve into the most pretentious, tonal mess of a supposed character study of Barry. It is fucking garbage. Fuck you, Bill Hader. The idea that the only person that gets a happy ending is the "one that accepts who he is", being Fuches, was fucking ridiculous as well. Just unbelievably stupid. Fucking mess. Even just thinking about it makes my blood boil. Such a great setup that devolves into bullshit.
