He's the fun kind of grouchy autist where he'll actually react to the words used, like being adamant that his drawings aren't "good art" because he considers this objectively the case even though he thinks the comic itself is entertaining.

The sign makes perfect sense to me as I read those comics. The comics are written by various authors and they have various branching canons. The most notable is Rosa/Barks canon, and there are various others. "Ducktales" is its own distinct canon, there are actually Ducktales comics (A minority of the duck comics), usually distinguished by using OC's from the Ducktales cartoon. When there was a comic utilizing Ducktales it was very noticeable. I actually don't prefer the Ducktales canon, it always seemed weird to me Scrooge was willing to buy a big mansion and butler etc when normally he is depicted as very frugal.

One of my dad's friends worked for a distributor when I was younger. He delivered a ton of different stuff to local stores, and he always dropped of some of the leftover comics he had every couple of months. It was never DC or Marvel shit, but Uncle Scrooge and Uncle Scrooge Adventures among other shit. The Uncle Scrooge comics were the most Kino things I read growing up.
