I think he really does deserve credit. His major contribution was just sticking around and being a pain in the ass and complicating things, and that turned out to be critical. He kept German units in France and Norway, forced the deployment of units to North Africa and the Balkans, all of which lowered the readiness for Barbarossa and the sustainability of it when it bogged down.
So credit where it's due. If he hadn't made a seemingly pointless declaration of war after Poland was invaded, things might have gone very differently.

Something that honestly bothered me the most about WW2 was how Churchill immediately allied with Stalin

The entire war started because of UK's guarantee to Poland but he said absolutely nothing when the Soviets invaded them a few weeks later? Also his worry about Hitler taking over most of Europe was basically what Stalin did in the end of the war

Secondly, no the Germans didn't lose thanks poor leadership. Hitler was right about everything until Kursk, it was his retarded Generals who had zero grasp on the strategic situation in Russia that constantly fucked up. But luckily Hitler managed to curb their shitty ideas throughout the early days in the Eastern Front. Germany lost the war in the USSR thanks to Russian Generals not caring about how many men they lost and Americans for propping up the Soviet Union with lend lease.
