what was so bad about the last two seasons? i'm rewatching it now and yeah it definitely gets worse over time with the last season being the worst, but it's still a pretty good show throughout the whole series.

i just finished season 7. the arya/sansa stuff was dumb, but i don't really find anything else to be as bad as i remember it being.

Everything was rushed making it seem retarded, including travel and Dani going currraazy! Not to mention abandoned plots and the best antagonists being the white walkers getting defeated by cringe super ninja power girl Arya making the whole ending series ending just meh

It left most mysteries unresolved, the few that were resolved were done so in a lazy and unsatisfactory way, and many characters acted out-of-character, Tyrion and Daenerys most notably. And I'll be honest, a big part of the disappointment is they had one last chance to convince Emilia to do full frontal, clit visible, and they didn't do it.

I'm one of the oddballs who thought that Dani becoming genocidal made a lot of sense. There was a foreshadowing of this with in Meereen with her being pretty heavy handed in the city against Tyrion's persistent sound advice. Also, it seems obvious to me that the Targaryens in the Song of Ice and Fire had produced a tendency to mental illness from generations of inbreeding.
As the show progressed, It became clear to me that Daenerys became more demanding and incorrigible the bigger her dragons got. There's an obvious morality tale about the corrupting effects of absolute power, that could only end badly.

Arya basically ruined the entire show for me more than anyone by becoming a Mary Sue, even though the first half of her story is pretty good.
Her killing of the Night King was absolutely outrageous because it should have Jon.
Jon devoted his entire life to keeping the Knight King at bay and ultimately died for it.
It would have been cliche but anyone killing the big baddie other than Jon just doesn't make any sense.

The other thing I hated is how they wasted the whole three eyed Raven story line. It basically had no relevance to outcome of Westeros as far as I can tell.

of course it makes sense, it was just kinda rushed. she was fine in one episode and then the next she is depressed and then she goes crazy and burns everyone.

>Arya basically ruined the entire show for me
>it should have Jon
totally agree but i also think grrm might have actually wanted it to be this way because of muh subversion

How did Dani becoming genocidal make sense? She spent the series trying to be a fair and just ruler, then when she finally takes the capital, she just slaughters everyone? Someone explain this to me.
Also, the hour-and-a-half battle episode was stupid because they could have saved all that time if Arya had just done her thing at the beginning instead of the end.
The only reason I'd rewatch that series would be to cut out all the naked-chick parts (not Cersei...ick), but I figure someone has done that already.

The show went to shit in season 4 with dicking around in Dorne, when Jamie and Bronn went to get Mycella. That storyline was anti-GoT. A rich lord with one hand going to a hostile territory when he could be killed or imprisoned? And the Sand Snakes and the bad pussy.

The later series went too quickly and lost 2-3 seasons worth of content. So Arya started speaking all cold because she was bad ass lady now. Sansa is not super genius even though she isn't. The central conflict didn't matter. People transported across the entire continent in no time at all. Everything became lazy and contrived.

In season 1 they added a scene not in the books where Tywin butchers a stag (symbolism) and it was a read stag. That set up Tywin and his relationship with Jamie so well.

In the last episode we got a retarded who should rule scene that mocked characters and looked absolutely retarded. Who has the best story decides who should rule? Nah mate, who has actual support, money, armies.

If Dani was gonna go genocidal then just end it with her staying on the throne, she burns Jon, Arya, she burns the North and anybody else who doesn't fall in line. Just have the series end where nothing mattered at all.

Fast travel. The first season made a huge deal of the Starks travelling to King's Landing. It took a long time in the show and it added a sense of scale and immersion to the vastness of the world. By the last seasons everyone is just skipping to the opposite side of the continent in the blink of an eye and on top of that it's very painstakingly fucking obvious it's because X character needs to be exactly at Y location for the plot to keep barely making any plausible sense

Who told you it was the last two seasons? The first two seasons were great, then season three was good. It was a sharp decline from season 4 onwards.

I always thought another supernatural element should have killed the night king, a child of the forest or something idk even some new plot. The army of the dead should have rampaged all the way down the continent and forced a retreat into King's Landing or something. I thought it was so weird deafeating nk and feeling like the series was over and then having to go deal with cerseis bullshit like it was some kind of chore.

I remember watching the show when it came out as a big fan, and felt like this scene was an actual shark jumping moment the moment I watched it.

>I know, lets have this new character unprompted go into a speech that begins with "when I was a child" because that's how game of thrones characters talk
It felt like the show was noticeably becoming entirely by the numbers to the point of self-parody.

Literally nothing, seth rogen didnโ€™t get it because was high and he tweeted that it sucked and everyone just rolled with that. I swear to god thatโ€™s actually how it happened. Arya killing the night king makes perfect sense (the fuck else was all her training supposed to be for? killing one 90 year old?) and Brann taking the throne is fine. Someone had to, makes more sense than anyone else really, the last male Stark. Also Dany going full Hitler literally makes absolutely perfect sense from the very beginning of the series. Sheโ€™s an entitled psycho cunt who walks around demanding everyone kneel before her.
