Bond 26 Frontrunners

I have it on good authority that these three are the main contenders for the role of James Bond. In order, they are Tom Brittney, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Leo Suter. They tried out about 7 other actors of similar background. They're being very careful and extensive. Currently, Amy Pascal is championing Aaron Taylor-Johnson while Heyman wants Suter. Brittney is a dark horse choice but unlikely to be picked (he also lost out on Superman).

Currently, they're locking down the director and writer. Script is two drafts in with a final draft in time for shooting to start in October for a Spring 2027 release date. David Leitch, Ben Wheatley, Ilya Naishuller are the main choices. Leitch is deep into production with a movie so that leaves either Ben Wheatley or Ilya Naishuller. Most likely Ben Wheatley is chosen to direct a script by Drew Pearce.

With the exception of ATJ these are some really budget-conscious choices from Pascal/Heyman. TV actors for Bond and genre type directors for people behind the camera. Surprised Amazon wouldn't set their sights a little higher for their signature film property.

Probably a good thing, it's a franchise that is at its best when it's goofy, unpretentious and steeped in genre convention.

No Time To Die didn't break even (even if it made nearly 800 million during COVID, coming in second to only that Spider-Man movie in 2021) it still went massively overbudget and overschedule. Amazon is looking at that and going "okay, this is our first try at this, it's a whole new reboot, the last thing we want is to splurge cash and have it fall flat". They know the real draw is the 007 IP and they can spare expenses because of that. It's in a big flux right now because they can't quite agree on what this new Bond is yet.

Pascal/Heyman can both agree he needs to lighten up but they also realize that nearly all blockbusters these days are too quippy/fluffy and they want a script which balances both gritty/funny just right. They aren't quite there yet. They want this movie to cap at a 100 million budget, no more than that. Pascal is advocating for ATJ because she likes him and thinks Bond needs a big name actor to make a splash in the public consciousness. Heyman thinks that's misguided and wants an unknown like Suter to fully embody the role and be free for the next 10 years. ATJ wants to be Bond but he also wants Amazon to allow him to be in other movies on the side which is a huge deal breaker. I expect it to go like this:

Heyman gets his way
Suter is cast
Wheatley directs
100 million budget
October 2025 shoot
May 2027 release
No connection to the new video game (though media has been pushing this narrative)

ATK is going to be Bond. They release an article celebrating both Bond and Superman are played by Jews and this is great for representation. Both movies underperform. They blame it on antisemitism and toxic fans instead of the movies being blatantly terrible. Double down with these terrible actors and their globohomo propaganda in the sequels. Underperform, blame it on fans, repeat.

Very true. Craig and his cronies tried hard to make it this Oscar-winning prestige series but it's not and that's the beauty of it. I'm sure Craig was fully deluded into thinking he would've gotten an Oscar for No Time To Die.

out of those 3, Leo looks the most Bond like.
If Taylor-Johnson was serious about wanting this role, he needs to clean himself up & look the part. He rarely EVER does, so I don't think he'd make a good Bond. Plus, he has been artificially pushed for this role & it gets annoying.

He has a killer body and killer looks but then he opens his mouth and yeah....he cannot be Bond. Sorry to say. This is also why he's not been able to get any good leading roles because he's betrayed by his Beckham voice syndrome. I vote Leo Suter like everyone else.

He's in the running but I'm thinking it might go to Naishuller only because he has a more accommodating schedule and is already an in-house director. If timing didn't screw Leitch over, he would've already been chosen as director (he was the first choice after Cuaron) but as it stands, they want Leitch's style and sensibility brought to Bond so they'll go for the next big thing which is Naishuller. He has an Amazon original coming out next month. Developments are still ongoing, though.

Alfonso Cuaron was discussed but he wanted to do Bond in a radical new fashion (70's thriller) when Pascal/Heyman want to bring Bond back to basics. He didn't agree to cut down on his creative freedom so he stepped away entirely.

Corenswet wasn't a nobody. He's had a bunch of roles in high-profile stuff. The other guy that auditioned with him is a nobody. Corenswet is also a nepo Jew.

I like this guy. If you watch interviews and compare him to ATJ, they're worlds apart. Suter is much more masculine and charismatic. He's also a heroic archetype in the flesh. ATJ looks too slimy and villainous.

Getting turned down is like 90% of acting, Cavill himself was turned down for Superman and Bond too. I'm half expecting Brittney to be Batman though

No way. You're way off the mark. That's a subversive and malicious parody of Bond. Go watch GoldenEye again. That's more like what Bond 26 will be. Geopolitical intrigue and drama mixed with capers and stunts.
