Season 1 was too good and the scientist revealing stuff related to the virus so early on was a mistake

Season 2 was the true death knell..getting rid of both Shane and Dale in such short succession. Both were such good actors.. could have kept them around til S4 then ended the show right. They wanted the money over a quality show

Darabont had more talent and experience in his little finger than the rest of the crew combined.

i thought it was fine, normies would constantly complain that we didn't learn enough about the virus and i think it was just enough to shut those people up but still leave some mystery about the where and why (although my understanding is the Daryl spinoff ruined that and just explained everything about the virus)

Having writers who couldn't agree whether the main group were supposed to be competent, sane, or even good people at all. Like most fans who started watching later, most writers were clueless about what had already been written and shown.

the best part was after they left the farm. just before they find the prison.
then the next best part is right after they lose the prison and carl gets raped while rick watches.

making every season starting from s3 have 16+ episodes, extending s3 and s4 because of it
boring hospital filler arc, again to extend the ep count
s6 cliffhanger was actually great, but it killed any hype for season 7 by putting the best part at the beginning
s7 and 8 were just boring conflicts and bloated story arcs because, again, they fucking HAD to have 16 episodes
carl dying
rick "dying"
s9 being led by fucking michonne who can't act for shit
by s10 the show was super dead and they were just crawling to finish the comic plot lines

Yeah. I knew it was tongue in cheek with it being a fucking zombie show, but when Michonne showed up I just tried to turn off my brain for the rest of it.

Being on basic cable. I liked the show, but now after reading most of the comics, the show is neutered by comparison. Not to mention a lot of cool shit was either skipped or changed for the worse to fit being a seasonal TV show.

my understanding is the that writer or showrunner from season 1 quit or was fired and the show went downhill after that (the very next season was the farm one that everyone complains about, if I recall)

He was fired which is why Dale died early too. They were friends and once the showrunner got fired, Dale's actor quit.

Said showrunner was Frank Darabont, and he was fired because he wanted a bigger budget and AMC wanted to do the show on the cheap.

It got over-played. It lasted longer than a real zombie apocalypse would have, and deteriorated into clans of humans versus humans with zombies as the backdrop.

The first two seasons are good to me. Then it drops off from there.
