Check out the first one (I don't know about the rest). It has a great atmosphere, mainly because of the soundtrack by Philip Glass. Also, halfway in, the main character wakes up thinking she has done something terrible and it's a great scene. Really suprised me because I was expecting a pulpy 90s horror slasher.

The reboot didn't have those elements and I found it pretty meh.

It had no story for starters. At the end of the movie she's being apprehended by these moustache twirling supervillain tier corrupt cops so she summons Candyman in a mirror and he kills all the cops and let's her live? They basically turned Candyman into a superhero movie for negros. It was like a /pol/ parody of a woke Candyman.
