1>3>2

it's a difficult one but 1 just has that pre 2001 SOVL, 2 has the pre half-life 2 physics and 3 is simply the greatest third person shooter ever made

none of them are bad but only one can be best

Max Payne 3 was a fitting conclusion to the series despite the writing differences between the first 2 and it makes sense for Max to be a complete alcoholic wreck. Brazil was a great fish out of water contrast setting for Max Payne and it wouldn't been boring if they kept it in New York.

Shame that Jackman is too old now, he would've been a great Max Payne in a decent live-action. That movie adaptation was soulless as fuck, they failed to create a neo-noir atmosphere and made it into a generic Jason Statham type of slop.

No it doesn't. He moved on after the end of 2, why's he still tortured and depressed?

Yep, this is basically it. I do not care about some fagged up Rockstar Max Payne, but I also wouldn't want a current-day trannyloving Remedy version either anyway. The first game was carried entirely by its concept and quickly became repetitive. 2 fixed this a bit. I do miss Sam Lake's stupid face, though.

I don't care if that's "how trauma works". Max's arc in 2 was him getting over the death of his wife and kids, so having him regress back in 3 to repeat the same arc is just bad storytelling.

you realized his gf Mona died too right, his only way of newfound love which reminded him of his dead wife and kid too. So that's double to intake, and 3 references all the people he failed to save not just his family

the final line of 2 showed he had finally come to terms with everything and let go of the past. now in 3 he acts like he's never moved on.
