Office space is a movie about a guy about to be laid off from a job that was only ever temporary by efficiency consultants hired by his company to justify terminating people they hired specifically for a short term job, who were hired under false pretenses at the time, believing they had landed permanent employment. His job was to manually edit raw code to not shit itself when the year rolled over to 2000 from 1999, under supervision of eight different bosses.

I live in a normie suburb in southeast Pennsylvania. Rent is $1200, my payments on my 2023 vehicle are $450. Other ~fixed expenses: utilities, car insurance, etc. bring me up to a total of $2300/month. Food/gas/entertainment I spend about $1k/month. I don't separate these out because they all just go on my credit card. That's $40k/year spending and that's with making payments on a new car. Take that out and the spending drops to $35k/year. A $50k gross after federal/state/local taxes is just over $40k/year. I need nothing. I want for nothing. I am wealthy in a way 90% of the world cannot even fathom.

I've been working at the same company for 8 years and there's been a "hiring and budget freeze" literally every year. It's just corpo bullshit to demoralize workers from asking for raises while middle management gets promoted and stacks fat bonuses. Of course they make a few hires for optics, so that the newly appointed managers can feel like they aren't worthless pieces of organic paperweight. Biden is shit, Trump is shit, but the shittiest people are the fucktarded upper management of billion dollar corporations. I hope more of them start getting assassinated.

The call that the epidemic of Influencia Movies of the 90s (and the turn of the millenium).

There's a billion and one examples of guys who have it all, an easy job, a big home, a hot wife/gf, and/or a job that can easily support an entire family.....

.... but the entire crux of the movie is that they aren't spiritually satisfied despite having it all.

Office Space is a good example of this (though Peter isn't rich), American Beauty, Fight Club. It was a common movie theme back in those days.

And it already seemed like a ridiculously foreign concept by the mid-aughts because everything became so economically difficult, jobs wanted to wring every cent out of our labor, rents and interest rates conspired to take all we have, and we had to fight every day for our literal lives rather than have it all and feel unsatisfied because it doesn't sooth our souls.

The fact that they could focus so deeply on "deep spiritual satisfaction" after being economically comfortable is a sign of how incredibly cushy those days were.

Yeah, no shit. If this biggest problem with my job was the receiptionists chipper repetition and being asked to a put a cover sheet on my TPS reports, you can effectively say that I've got it made.

Those were the days of American comfort and they didn't even realize.

Every year since, when Biden took over, I've not even been able to keep up with inflation and have made less money.

There's money out there for you.

A young fit construction worker probably spends far less time in hospitals than a desk jocky at the same age.....

BUT there comes a point where the body breaks down from hard physical labor. You don't personally see it because those guys usually wash out almost instantly (despite working there for decades before the significant injury happen

s).

But once they're at that point, they're gonna be spending a lot more time in hospitals than desk jockies at the same age. They're also likely going to be in an extremely dangerous financial predicament because they needed their body for hard physical labor that they can no longer perform. And since unions and pensions are things of the past, they're gonna have to make it solely through disability payments which are extremely hard to get these days and even once approved, it does not cover much.

Those "tradies" never seem to think much about how it all ends these days.

Yeah bro. That's pretty much nothing. That's about a cost of a living raise.

I think you need to closely look at your skill set.

Also, that has nothing to do with Biden and Trump and everything to do with you.

You need to either climb the ladder or get more training that can open up better opportunity.

If you've only gotten a 3$ raise once in your life, you have to be falling way behind financially.

The problem isn’t necessarily the work, it’s the workers who don’t know how to live outside of work, so they complain about “never having enough time” despite working 4-5 day weeks
The general rule is that if you’re enjoying your living conditions and are able to see a steady growth in your accounts due to even mild savings abilities per paycheck, you are just fine
You DO have time to have a life outside of work
You DO have resources to make feasible hobbies and goals possible and fulfilling
You DO have the ability to have a social life
If you DONT, you messed up somewhere far worse than your employment situation
Do NOT become addicted to substances, do NOT overspend like a retard on things you cannot afford at the moment, do NOT make your off time a constant financial drain with going out to bars or whatever
Unless your job is absolutely soul sucking (it usually isn’t for 90% of people), then just get over yourself and stop blaming your dissatisfaction with life on things you are fully in control of

no, its pretty shitty and thats why zoomers are based for realizing that 5 days a week 8 hours a week is bullshit, especially since most of these jobs dont need people sitting in the office for the entire 8 hours, works and productivity slows down massively after 12 PM lunch anyways. people pretend to work on fridays. it has been shown in practically every single study and work experiments that 4 day work weeks have little to no loss in productivity while also massively boosting morale and happiness. people dont care if the job sucks dick or how hard it is, they just want more time for themselves.

and god forbid you get into management or any salaried positions, ive seen way too many people in the upper tiers of the pay scale stay extra hours, 5+ hours and weekends, because the bosses demanded it.

Last I checked the average work day is eight hours, so you have 16 hours every day to yourself. Even if you don't want to count sleeping that's still 8-10 hours of free time every day. It's not my fault you cityfags spend four hours a day commuting

>8 hours of free time
>30 mins to make breakfast and eat it
>1 hour for commute both ways
>30 mins to get ready for work via showering brushing teeth and packing lunch
>1 hour unpaid lunch
>1 hour gym
boom already down 4 hours of "free time" and of course peoples commutes arent perfect, that one hour for both ways can easily go 1 hour 30 or 2 hours. if you have any kids, gotta pick them up from school and take care of them, or pets. this is also assuming you have lunch for the entire week already made. god forbid if you even have to cook 2 or 3 times during the week, a trip to the grocery store getting the shitty traffic out of that and then needing to make the food. days wasted. all of a sudden that 8 hours is shrunken down to 2-3 hours of free time. then its back to the grind for 5 entire days. saturday is taken up by chores, cooking for the week laundry cleaning house. lets say thats on sunday. then boom, you have one whole day to yourself vs 5 days of work. do this for 65 years, no wait 70, or maybe until you die because retirement age keeps getting pushed back. no wonder gen z wont have the wool pulled over their eyes.
