>In 2000, DMX and Eminem were set to star in THE CROW: LAZARUS. DMX would have played Lazarus, a Los Angeles gangsta rapper who decides to leave his violent lifestyle behind when his girlfriend becomes pregnant. Eminem would have played Lazarus’s treacherous best friend Stone, who arranges for Lazarus to be killed in a drive-by shooting in which Lazarus’s girlfriend and their unborn child are accidentally also killed. One year later, the black crow from the previous movies revives Lazarus to seek revenge on Stone, who now owns a record label profiting off Lazarus’s music, while an evil white crow imbues Stone with similar powers to Lazarus, leading to a conflict between the two superhuman friends-turned-foes. Ernie Hudson was also set to reprise his role as police sergeant Albrecht from the original 1994 movie, but the studio ultimately scrapped the project, believing the rap crowd wasn’t a strong enough audience to cater a film to, in favor to the low-budget straight-to-video franchise killer THE CROW: WICKED PRAYER starring Edward Furlong.
