Why did people hate this movie exactly?
Its not great but it wasnt as bad as people make it out to be.

I liked this movie as a kid because I was autistic and liked Harriers, then I found out everyone pretends this is the worst movie ever made (it's bad, but no, lol. not even close) and I felt really bullied
But now I embraced it. I even bought an L Ron Hubbard book to support my nigga. never read it though but I have it like a novelty item.
Tom Cruise won btw.

The movie is pretty decent as far as sci fi goes IF you just ignore how dumb the plot points are as individual plot points and only focus on the big picture. Idk, solid 6/10 I would say. Costumes are cool, I like the setting and story overall. Main lead sucks nuts and is a charisma vacuum (Barry Pepper I believe?) and Travolta, as usual, has to carry the film. Well Forrest Whitaker too while he is alive.

Some people just hate camp; others embrace it.
