The film isn't without its moments but overall it was a fucking letdown.

>The fact that only like 10% of it takes place on Eternia was clearly a cost-saving measure
>they just threw up their hands, decided Orko was too hard an effect to produce and just made Gwildor (aka Sam's club Orko) instead
>same with Battlecat except they couldn't even figure out how to do the discount version
>replaced most of the classic villains with lame new ones Instead of live-action Ram Man or Moss Man or Tri-Face or my man Stinkor we got lizard in a wig and a pirate.

I was there, man. People were apathetic. They cast it very well but it's a He-Man movie with scenes set in an alleyway, a high school gym and a record store. It's half of what we wanted

This 2bh, i'll be 50 next year and was there for the whole He-Man ride; saw the film in the cinema and never wanted to see it ever again.

The movie is bad, and not even the good kind of bad like Flash Gordon is which is a far better film than He Man.
Actually, thinking about it, Flash Gordon is a great film.

They already tried to grab a modern audience with a couple of shitty Netflix series, it didn't work. Same situation with GI Joe, it just failed to carry itself through the 90s and 00s to become a staple franchise like Transformers did (and even that's started to fail)

I don't understand how a grown adult could possibly ever care about this shit even if they watched it in their youth. It's the most substanceless slop ever. I feel awful for people that had to grow up with He-Man. It's really worse than capeshit even.

I was a kid back then and when I finally saw it I was deeply disappointed because it wasn't a He-Man movie. It was a bunch of weird OC without any of the costumes and characters I wanted to see. Looking back now, it was a fun 80s film in its own right and if they'd made it as an OC fantasy film, it might have been better received. Instead, it just made a lot of kids scratch their heads and say stuff like, "where is Orko?" and "why is He-Man's costume and sword wrong?"

He man was literally a toy selling show for little boys who still had their father in their life (ie white), who actually thought their dad was 10 feet tall and could punch every other dad in the face.
You could see how this doesn't work for gen Alpha.

This. The show came out in 83 and ran for 2 seasons. If you watched this as a kid, you're probably close to 45 and really into He-Man.

I'm, 47, I was the He-man target audience in 82 and loved that shit. I think I even had the castle greyskull slime playset, I don't know why he-man had to get slimed so much.
