That should have been made into a work where he and some other wrestler exchanged words, talked about it in a way that will ensure it won't happen again but gets people hyped for a match between the too or some kind of storyline. Then play it for the fans.
It's an easy way to start test build maintain storylines and heat. I don't see how they aren't using it to it's fullest advantage. Espescially with everyone being so SURE that they're in on the real thing and understand how the business is run.
The people who think they can't be fooled are the easiest to fool. And not only that, if they are IN on the fun then they'll help play along.
