I'm currently on holiday outside UK and work in a crown dependency to avoid being tax resident in UK since if I were to become resident I'd owe like £250k in taxes, by the time I'm 30 I suspect the difference in NW will be about £1-2 mil through this move. I have 120 days I can visit UK under SRT where I only have 1 tie, I think next year it should be more but I'm not sure and overall I have to spend 5 years outside UK. I also have to move between hotels every 30 days whenever I stay in UK otherwise I am at risk of having a residence there since point 2 I think of SRT is so vague and open for interpretation.
In terms of career I'm planning on specialising in GP because of the flexibility to work part time as salaried, business opportunities in partner and while the market is poor now hopefully locum will pick back up again. GP also lets you move to Canada even when you're still in training provided you've completed GPST2 since their training is only 2 years long for family med. I don't even think you've got to have passed until you've got there but I'm not certain. Currently doing foundation program on crown dependency and fortunate to have got it really given the switch to random allocation a couple years ago.
Maybe this is all a larp but it's a pretty fucking dedicated one if it is...
