Why are drive-in movie scenes always at night? Is it a reference to something?

You have to hire more extras to sit in cars and/or buy more dummies if it's shot during the day. If it's shot at night, you can leave most cars in the background empty and no one will notice.

if a drive in movie scene happened during the day, the projection on the screen would be barely visible which is a reference to trans women who are sadly barely visible even with the worldwide day of visibility

There's a flea market during the day. So unless the scene required a flea market, it wouldn't make sense to be at the drive-in when the sun is out.

Before 2003 it was illegal to finger a woman during daylight hours.
