Why no books and tv shows about the construction of Starkiller base?
>>211539349 (OP)what was the time scale this was constructed on? Even for sw universe wouldn't this take a hundred years
>>211539459A good question, for a different time
>>211539459Donโt think about it bro, this was totally part of Palpatineโs plan the whole time or some shit.
>>211539459This issue could've been hand-waved away by changing the story such that the First Order discovered an ancient massive Death Star-esque device built by a long extinct species (rather than building it) and it's later revealed to have been the inspiration for what the Empire did earlier in the timeline.
JJ Abrams star wars is not canon, it is like the yuuzhan vong and other cringe convoluted fanfics trying to milk the success of the original, the prequels are only canon to justify Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008).
The story ends with Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Han Solo, R2D2, C3PO celebrating with the Ewoks with the hologram ghost things of Yoda, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker on the forest moon of Endor. The End.
>>211539721more precisely it starts with a Vader chasing Leia's ship and ends on moon of Endor
OT = SW
>>211539349 (OP)Because it would be autistic.
>>211539459They'll probably say it was some ancient weapon thst they discovered
>>211539349 (OP)because the sequels are embarassing and they dont want to be reminded how creatively bankrupt their creations are

As of episode 9's visual dictionary, they've already decided on what it actually is and the timeline of how it got built.
It's Ilum, the place where all the lightsaber crystals come from.
After ROTJ, the first order just hollowed out the entire thing and built whatever the fuck that weapon system in 30 years or less (presumably less given how much more "gap filling" disney's doing with their shows).
Abrams definitely wasn't thinking, because doing such a thing in only 30 years in secret with a significantly smaller force than an actual galactic empire is simply not possible.
>>211539721>the prequels are only canon to justify Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008).Except TCW doesn't even line up with the prequels. There's so much that show does wrong and gives a way too much of Palpatine's plan to the Jedi, but probably the most damning thing about the show is Ahsoka's existence. Given what we see of him in those movies, there's simply no way the council would've deemed him worthy of a padawan, especially so early into the war. It just doesn't make any sense.
How do you even start a project of that scale
>>211539349 (OP)they're hoping you'll forget about it
>>211542314First you build a dozen death stars, then you use their super laser to start carving into the planet...
>>211539573If they actually wanted to be subversive, they could have said it was a republic project that got infiltrated and hijacked. It instantly explains how the fuck anyone managed to even build it without anyone even noticing, and why a group of scattered larpers managed to have access to it.
You could also use this to explain why Leia is part of a paramilitary group, since she would naturally be disgusted by this.
>>211542868This thread is already 100x more thought than JJ or Rian put into their movies. They asked "what dumb slop can we put into our movies that'll get the idiots to soi face?" Then shat it out and served it up
>>211539349 (OP)Because it's not fucking interesting...
According to Disney, Starkiller Base has a diameter of.... drumroll..... 660km. Now, the "legends" entry in Wookiepedia states it has a diameter of 5,870km, making it slightly smaller than Mars (6,779km).
So Disney apparently thought that Starkiller was too large of a planet for the remnant empire to "modify" into a battle station, so they shrunk it down in size to only 660km lol.
To compare however, we must look further. The original Death Star had a diameter of 120km, quite large for an artificial construct but not absolutely massive. The Death Star 2 had a diameter of a slightly larger 160km.
The "canon" Starkiller base is still 5x LARGER than the second death star in Diameter. Just think about the trench for the planet eating weapon, how much material would have to be removed from the planet in order to create that at that scale, just that work alone completely dwarfs any of the work done to construct the original or second Death Star.
But think about how it's portrayed in the film TFA. It is a planet that has snow. It has an oxygenated atmosphere. It has trees. It has I assume wildlife, weather, etc. It's clear that in this film, Starkiller Base was meant to be an Earth-like or Earth-sized planet, but they realized it just didn't make sense so they made it a dwarf planet sized object.
But compare it to something in our own solar system, a few examples being Ceres and Pluto, both Dwarf planets. Pluto is actually quite large compared to Ilum, it being almost 2,400km. Ceres is a more appropriate comparison, the largest "asteroid" in the belt, being around 966km in size, it too would dwarf Ilum.
Ceres has no atmosphere, it doesn't have the mass or gravity to have any, and it's larger than Ilum. So how does a tiny little rock like Ilum contain oxygen, water, gravity, climate, weather, organic life?
>>211539459It's repurposed from a trench made when Illum was being mined for Kyber crystals for the Death Star's main weapon.
You can see the mining trench in Jedi Fallen Order.
>>211542220The Jedi Council hardly even has control over who can be trained. Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan both chose to train Anakin regardless of the council's approval. Basically as soon as you're a Jedi Knight, you can do whatever you want. Not to mention them being in the middle of a war would accelerate the need for more Jedi.
>>211539349 (OP)I want them to rerelease the sequel movies in theaters like they did for ROTS just to see the turnout
>>211539349 (OP)As dumb as this was, they somehow thought of something even dumber in the next movie with hypercrash and then in the third movie with thousands of death star destroyers with entire crews content to live on their ships underwater until the moment Palpatine called for them
>>211539349 (OP)It's a really small planet 400 miles in diameter. It has a crazy gravitational field because of the kybur crystals at it's core.
It was being mined for thousands of years at the belt area. The empire took over and immediately started trench miningit with hydrogen bombs etc. the empire feel, the old imperial fleet of a dozen star destroyers etc 200,00-300,00/ mmen fled and on their way out and aducted 50 to 60 million kids who they brainwashed into their troops. They spent 30 years taking old sections of star destroyers and putting them on it to build the weapon and the planet was already filled with crystals. So they just had build a harvesting and focusing device and use the star destroyers hyperdrives too move it around
The concept was cool but jj didn't come up with it. It was reconned with size what it was and why. It's meant to be like their mobile home base/weapon the big triangle thing in the second one was it's aud craft carrier, the exogol death stars were going to hook up to it
>>211542868Damn that would've been way better and also would've paralleled Kylo's dynamic with the Jedi in a way that could've been very compelling.
