Why do movies that are set in ancient times have the characters speak English with some weird foreign accent?
The foreign accent doesn't make it any more "realistic" since they wouldn't be speaking English at all.
Why not just have them speak normal English? If anything, that would actually be more realistic in a way because at least it conveys the sense that they're speaking in their natural tongue.

No it is a perfectly logical question. If the movie is going to be in English, then just use normal English instead of this weird vaguely foreign accented English. There is no reason to use the latter.
