I was sitting outside on my porch today and left my phone inside for some reason and the sound of the wind and the smell of the rose bushes while I just laid there on the couch and looked up at the blue sky while small white clouds drifted over me really gave me a weird feeling that I haven’t felt for years bros.

I think we might be ok after all.

but my guess is that has more to do with your age/stage of development than the objective goodness of the culture or media of the time you grew up.

Couch is 1990s leather, and everything in there is basically from 90s or earlier. Old vidya consoles and stuff too. Whenever I’m not feeling life I just go in there.

Can we all agree that Tom was at fault and led himself into the trap? Summer was very forward with what she was expecting and how it would be. Sure she led him on a few times, but she warned him ahead of time what would happen. Tom refused to listen and was delusional. The only thing Summer is at fault for is inviting him to the wedding party, Summer probably has some form of autism and doesn't realize why that was a dick move.

I was in college from fall 2012 to spring 2016. The early 2010's weren't too bad but don't forget Trayvon Martin got killed by that dipshit George Zimmerman in spring 2012. It was my senior year of high school and the black kids and the white lib kids were getting riled up because of it.

I personally thought both Zimmerman and Trayvon were stupid; Zimmerman for following the kid instead of just letting the cops handle things and Trayvon for flipping out. Of course that pissed them off because I didn't choose a side and "criminalized" the victim. I didn't see any victims; just 2 dumbasses who fucked up.

So we were starting to see the cracks even then, but I'll gladly take 2014-2017 over 2020's covid bullshit and the fallout years.

KF3 looks like it could have potential BUT it gets released in the Lords abandoned year of 2025 so I am carefully optimistic and will NOT be buying it unless it’s proven to be good and I will still wait for it to be on at least 40% sale so probably 6 months after release but that’s ONLY if it’s proven to be good.

Borderlands 4 is already a write off for me. It looks like absolute woke garbage. Third worlders will love it and that filthy kike who runs gearbox will not be fired.

It did, but economically, 2008-2009 as well as Occupy Wall Street absolutely killed off the old America. 9/11 and the 2 wars definitely were crippling blows, but we still lingered on.

>le indie games

I will not be paying 15-45 buckaroos to play a 30 minute to 3 hour long game with zero replayability.

Indie games are a reddit psyop for coping manchildren who need their bing bing wahoo fix but can’t afford spending 70-100 bucks per aaa game.

Instead I will keep playing the same 10 year old multiplayer games I have been playing for years now.
>b-but won’t the servers s-shut down?!?
They already have. The only active servers are hosted by a couple hardcore nerds or by the community where everyone pitches in to keep it running and keep banning outsiders who try to bring their modern bullshit into the game.

I fuck you’re mother.

The world objectively went to shit in 2007. There were occasional massive downward spikes during the boomer and gen x years, but 2007 was a straight down spiral we've never recovered from, where the mask fell off and every trend from mass immigration to corporate oligarchism to tech zombification that we'd been slowly getting boiled in suddenly spilt over all in one horrible wave and by the time the smoke cleared in 2009 we were 100% full on clown world.

Anyone nostalgic for post 2007 years is obviously a zoomie or aspie who wasn't alive to experience the very last few years the world was normal and didn't seem like it was stuck in an unceasing decline. I can't even watch pre-2007 media anymore because it's too painful seeing a normal world and remembering what it was like before this unending dark age was thrown on us.

No white kid will ever experience being in a crowd of just white people. When I went to university the campus was 90% white. The local clubs and bars were even whiter. We went to the beach and the only brown skin was from tans. We went to music festivals and there were no worries about mass shootings or joggers wilding out or future doctors molesting sorority girls. The only phones were flip and nobody bothered taking pictures with them because you only got a fuzzy 60p image so everyone lived in the moment. The culture war was nowhere in site, the idea of men dressing as women was openly seen as one of the funniest things imaginable. Chicks were lipstick liberals who didn't really care about politics and quickly dropped any left wing pretensions once they were getting dicked down, and said dick wasn't 57/231 like it is with chicks now.

Getting old sucks but I genuinely have no jealousy of zoomers or gen autist because having experienced the literal last few good years the west will ever have you couldn't pay me to have grown up past 2007.

And you can still go to your local libraries if you want to borrow movies/shows on DVD/Blu-Ray as well as video games.

i went to college in the ninties and recently looked up the demos during my years which are posted in old school html tables on the college's current domain and it was surprisingly not-white, i think it was something like 67% caucasian and we had a huge jew pop like actual cap-wearers so functionally it was even lower, this is one of the lesser ivies. i played on the lacrosse team tho and the only 'people of color' were one black guy (who was actually in a grad program) and an armenian. by memory there were a lot of asians and a surprising amount of blacks (recall several on my floor sophomore year, all on the football team) certainly more than my high school but still i thought the percentage white would've been higher

I was out of university in 2005 and a full time wagie and still want to go back
My “no responsibilities” teen nostalgia is the mid 90s, but humanity definitely peaked around 2007 and the first years of smartphones and social media were kind of fun
I just want this clown world period to end, shit was looking bleak since 2012, but 2016 onwards feels like a fever dream

Despite my sophomore year of high school being absolute shit for me (all honors classes, stress for getting ready for college, my part-time job, being on the golf team), I would gladly go back to 2005 and experience it all over again compared to the last 5 years.

Yeah that's a pretty apt description of the decline of US culture. They just HAD to fuck over our childhood.

Shit I didn't even hate Kingdom of the Crystal Skull as much as the vomit of Dial of Destiny. I only watched the first 40 minutes before I changed the channel.

The smartphone and in particular its social media apps have been utterly disastrous. I personally didn't really feel a change on the internet until 2013/2014, which was when smartphones started to become ubiquitous.

>browsing the sites of individual japanese remixers in the mid-late 00s
>listen to their midis and mp3s of video game remixes
>all the sites linked to each other
>eventually discover muzie
>went on link trips browsing video game remixes by amateurs for hours
>most of the sites are dead now
And that's only one example. The internet felt a lot more dense back then, like a neighborhood that was lived in. Now everyone has been siloed into in their own echo chambers and fed curated content designed to farm outrage or doomerism.
I think society can limit the damage caused by smartphones by banning social media apps, or at the very least limiting them (4chan included) to desktop browsers. But I know this idea is a pipedream as corpos would lose money if it happened.

Don't forget that only whites and Japanese were mainly the netizens in the 2000's.

Now it's chinks, jeets, and others ruining it for everyone.

this is the thing, there was always a new place to discover
Now everyone has to be in the same dozen of popular sites, and we are lucky they are still reachable via browser, because you need the "apps" for the full-fledged experience
Also, outside of maybe TikTok, I don't think a new popular site has appeared in the last decade
Even when leftist tried to create their new twitter experience with bluesky, it is failing at being adopted

My friends used to bash the prequel trilogy (as did I), but I still say that Attack of the Clones was the best movie made in that trilogy. You had a shadowy conspiracy, the Jedi doing controversial things like utilizing a slave army, and all the seeds to Palpatine's rise to power. Not to mention Obi-Wan doing detective work.

I actually remember when South Park episodes were all available for free on South Park Studios and it wasn't until late 2000's or early 2010's (can't remember) when the Super Best Friends episode was taken down. Now everything has a warning for being offensive.

this is the problem tho, of course you can get out of it but you can't be with everyone else and live life out of it like you could in the past and that seems done forever. desu i think it's an incomprehensibly huge loss, it's just about the worst thing in the world and so vast-spectrumed that it's impossible to grasp how awful it really is

It's not an accident that most of those sites are dead and all social media was burned to the ground.

We were heareded there by government backed people
Like Google.
Google has been a government tool from day one.
Same as facebook.

Do you understand.
The internet is no longer alive.
It's a corpse.
All interaction nad people you interact with are curated by algorythms ai and the people you think you're talking to are cleverly designed response bots.

Even many of the websites you think you'e going ot are little more then on the fly generated ai nonsense.

Do you understand? You're really not connected to the internet and a lot of people. Really the only time you're on the internet is when you're downloading media or responding to bots or whatever handful of people the algorythms funnel you too

Welcome to the desert of the real.

NTA but 1994 baby here too. I sometimes do a double take and realize that Talladega Nights is 20 years old now. When Michelle Trachtenberg died recently, I remember watching Ice Princess way back on cable in late 2005 and the nostalgia hit me hard.

Fuck yeah. I remember watching Toonami as a kid and getting into Ronin Warriors and Gundam Wing as well as original Dragon Ball (kid-teen Goku era).

Not to mention raunchy stuff like The Man Show and Son of the Beach. Back when people could still have fun.

Shit I meant Wedding Crashers. Talladega Nights was 2006.

But the last 20 years was a blur for me. I mean shit 2020 to now was seamless.
