[The film] is the source of constant irritation in my private life. There are countless people out there who think the story is open range to explore their fantasies and to correct what they see as an unbearably disappointing story [...] They constantly send ghastly manuscripts and pornish rewrites of the story to me, expecting me to reply with praise and applause for "fixing" the story. They certainly don't get the message that if you can't fix it you've got to stand it. Most of these "fix-it" tales have the character Ennis finding a husky boyfriend and living happily ever after, or discovering the character Jack is not really dead after all, or having the two men's children meet and marry, etc., etc.

Tagline is very cruel when Heat is ded. Noctural Animals Susan character is a veiled metaphir about him. My research concludes thusly.

It’s a cautionary tale about giving in to sin. It ruined what would have been an amazingly intimate friendship and also their own marriages

The marriages were doomed from the start and two homosexuals can't have an intimate friendship, the only alternative is being celibate.

The only reason this movie became famous is the shock value of it being "the gay movie". If it came out today nobody would give a shit about it, because now every movie is gay.

Brokeback mountain is so much better as a suspense than a gay love story.

Heath's paranoia and schizophrenic perception of everyone. The entire line dancing scene with the "hey let's just go fishing" and it probably was hey let's just hang out with what's his face assuming everyone around him wants to fuck his asshole.
it's the best schizo movie ever.
it's one of the worst romance movies though.

Worth watching? I'm not particularly enthusiastic about gay sex but can tolerate it if the story is good. I liked Last of Us S1E3.
