until you realize everything is scripted and whatever the farm makes dwarves in comparison to the shows profit. you could at least pretend he actually was trying to run a farm in S1. I'm at season 3 now and it feels more like a spanish telenovela.

It’s not the scripting that bothers me, it’s when it’s so blatant and wooden, absolutely no organic banter. With CF the banter seems less forced than TGT. I feel like they catered too much to brain dead yanks.

my point is there is no investment for the viewer and most stuff that happens was meticulously planned in some office. when they're trying to sell me a 1000 pound vet bill as something huge that needs to be groaned about I simply lose interest.

Wow, anon. You figured it out! Most farms aren't profitable at all. You struggle to break even, cover operating expenses, and buy supplies for next year. Of course the fucking show makes more money than an actual farm does. Are you daft? As for scripted, I'd hard press X on that one. The only parts I'd say were scripted were the tiny inbetween bits where clarkson references someone, kaleb/harriet don't get it, and clarkson groans and complains about the youth. Your crops getting fucked, animals need to be babysat constantly because the dumb fucks are hellbent on trying to off themselves in some bizarre way, and in my case, having to sit out in the back of a truck shooting coyotes all night because the fucks keep attacking the livestock guardians and trying to go after the lambs. I mean shit, I had a horse fucking disembowel itself on a fence post once running away from another horse that was nipping at him to assert dominance. They cut out a lot of the minor and tedious shit that goes wrong, too, otherwise you'd just be bored because hurr durr the irrigation ditch pipe broke for the 30th time, some fuck diverted too much water and yours dried up, livestock broke the fence, ground squirrel infestations, etc.

You do know whatever real farms make from produce is dwarfed by government subsidies right? Farming is not profitable at all without outside support and farmers are guaranteed to get that because it's the most vital sector we have. No farm runs off what they make growing crops and rearing sheep

Its very very simple. 1 Jeremy constantly says he is rich and doesnt rely on the farm for anything. 2 he is showing you what other farmers go through. You think he really has perfect animals without vet bills? You think it just rains during harvest only on his fields?
The point is you see the struggle of farmers presented by someone who you dont and shouldnt of course feel bad for but then go O shit man real farmers must have it so much worse. Thats the fucking point of the show simpleton. You arent supposed to feel bad for jeremy, but the other farmers.

I fully believe he bought it for the show, yes. I also believe he really did use it, and did so because he's rich and trying to flex his wealth. And I'd be willing to bet it was actually as bad a piece of shit that constantly broke down as they made it out to be. For a former car journalist and enthusiast, he seems awfully retarded when it comes to basic mechanical knowledge and skill.

>>211559374
That's what I mean about the inbetween bits. But that's not the bulk of the show. Farming fucking sucks, and I'm not even a crop farmer, just a livestock one.

Clearly. I guess I should word that as, He bought a lambo for the 'status symbol' the name brings for the majority of the world. Sure, a non farmer would hear lambo and immediately assume it's a luxury tractor. No disagreements there. And yes, he should have bought a real tractor when he had all of those brought in, and yes I agree that "bad timing" would be scripted. But him being a retarded boomer who gets confused by technology and only wants it to just werk and do everything he wants in a single button press is very believable.
