I think the Reddit take is less an obsession with a movie and more with actors, and building up an idea of an actor outside of films and then loving them for it
I like Clint Eastwood and Charlton Heston movies but I don't care about them outside of the films they're in, whereas Redditors will love the idea of them as acting as themselves. Redditors actually like seeing actors play the same role across different movies and then pretending they're like them because said actor once posted a pic on Insta of them rolling a joint or reading a Tim Wise book

What is the similarity between these films? I would say that reddit films can quite simply be defined as either absurdly artifcial wholesome, or fake edgy. Take Deadpool. Extremely excessive violence (but nothing really disturbing, just an unrealistic amount of blood everywhere and a general callous mocking of death and suffering) but not going too far. Take Rick and Morty also for example in that regard.

Then there's the 'artficial wholesomeness' which clearly comes from people who don't understand wholesome.

I would actually say Marvel Movies are more akin to Normieslop than Redditcore, although it has elements of both.

The films that 4chan likes seem to be about the loneliness of the individual. Think Bladerunner 2049, or True Detective season 1 for a show example. 4channers see themselves as outsiders, and thus they enjoy this type of media more often

Hot Fuzz is not a Reddit movie, it does become better with every watch, I didn't like it as much as Shaun of the Dead when it released, but I prefer Hot Fuzz now.
