>>211564709 (OP)It doesn't work better because it is animated, live action K dramas prove that. The west just sucks.
Holden Caulfield Syndrome. Western writers can't come up with new ideas, just shit on ones that already exist to cope with their own inability to create anything half as good. Jap crap, as bad as it can be, it is usually just bad; it doesn't fucking hate you, the viewer. With few exceptions, nearly all Japanese media is optimistic. Even their shlock and flavor of the month stuff is optimistic.
Compare western media. Western media is nearly always ugly. By that, I don't merely mean that it looks ugly (although that is there), but rather that the very concept, story and tone are all made as deliberately abrasive as possible. What sort of entertainment do westerners make today?
>"Uh, here's why superheroes are actually shit">"Here's why your dreams of medieval fantasy are actually shit">"Here's why rural living is shit">"Here's why urban living is shit">"Here's why suburban living is shit"It gets old.
Ever heard how Ramona Flowers ruined a generation of women? Well, Holden Caulfield ruined every writer since the release of the Catcher in the Rye. They think they are morally correct to do nothing but tear down others is because they mess up .001% of the time, yet are simultaneously so incompetent, they depend on the writings of people they hate to elevate their own shitty writing. There's a reason no one watches anything original anymore; they do, constantly, most Asian shit is a completely different IP season to season, they just don't give a chance to original western shit because western writing sucks ass and there is no reason to tolerate it UNLESS it's a remake, reboot, sequel or spinoff.
Liking Holden Caulfield is a shit test on whether someone deserves to be thrown into a lifetime of forced labor. Not everyone who dislikes him is trustworthy, but no one that does like him is.
