There has never been any such thing as a religion, in the sense of some true value system. There have only ever been cults that stuck around. Religions are just old cults, and cults are just new religions. They are all of them equally false, and they are all of them equally bereft of value. Unlike so many other countries, America does not have a state religion. There is no Papacy, Church of England, Russian Orthodox, Judaism, Shia Islam, Sunni Islam etc. Separation of Church and state is enshrined in the constitution.
