This. What's worse is Carradine's character wasn't even addressing him personally when the "offense" occured. He was just relaying a message from the higher ups.

The offense was relaying such an embarrassing message when he was with company instead of taking him aside to deliver it in private

Did he? I haven't seen the movie in ages. That was what the real guy said the offense was in history (the true story is even crazier, they dueled and severely wounded each other like a dozen times and had a weird friendship where they'd write to each other and end their letters with by promising to kill each other for real next time they meet)

Hubert walks into a party and introduces himself to the hostess and informs her that he's looking for Feraud. But he delivers the message off to the side. I guess that's not totally private but he didn't think he was dealing with a nutjob.

The Duellists was such a beautifully shot and colorful movie, how do you go from that to the dreary Napoleon flick? What happened to Scott, is this just old age?

Fero was a officer brought up through the ranks and resented guys like Dubear who came from rich families, people like them would always have a position whereas Fero had to fight for everything, he just couldn't let that go.
the girl said it: "you feed your spite on him"

"The worst soldier in the Grand Armeê."

Always loved the fact that Conrad reduced the number of duels they fought be he thought the readers wouldn't believe it. Pic is the actual little cunt himself.
