If the French monarchy had been bothered to run a fiscally sound government and not just give us blank checks to fuck them over in the treaty of Paris and then not pay them back for those sweet revolutionary war loans, they wouldn't have needed to open the government up to the public or overhaul the legal system to fix the revenue streams, which coupled with the rampant wealth inequality and food insecurity (yeah yeah its more unequal now, during the French revolution people starved to death people eat themselves to death now it's not the same) then you never have the back and forth between Republicans and monarchists that gave us the current right left dichotomy.
It goes even further for Europe because Napoleon rode the wave of revolutionary fervor on to conquer and rewrite the whole legal system of the continent, you change that and there's no telling what the west would look like. Holy Roman empire? Pope with temporal power? How many Sicilys?
