Superman enters the public domain on January 1, 2034.

Batman enters the public domain on January 1, 2035.

Green Lantern, The Flash and The Joker enter the public domain on January 1, 2036.

Wonder Woman and Aquaman enter the public domain on January 1, 2037.

Catwoman 2036

Two Face 2038

Riddler 2044

I’ll just wait for the independent kino after they enter public domain. I’m not sitting through Wokeslop.

Doesn't matter at all. Superman has done everything in later comics. They'll just sue you over that if you do anything but just reprint the public domain comics or some stupid parody

certain aspects enter the public domain, not the entirety. can't use the s shield, can't have him fly, can't have him use heat vision or x-ray vision, can't use kryptonite, can't use the daily planet, can't use the fortress. you can have a strong guy called clark kent though

The first versions of those characters are nothing like the current versions used by the DC movies.

Doesn’t matter because trademarks and Lawyers exist.

WB still has trademarks on all their DV characters. And because of capitalism, trademarks never expire. So even though Superman will be in the public domain, WB still has all the trademarks of the character (his name, costume, powers, origin, colors, etc). It is why no one has done anything with Mickey despite Steamboat Willie being in the public domain. Plus WB lawyer will sue you if you try to use Superman like Disney does with Mickey.

If you want to use Action Comics Superman, you will still have to change his name, name of his planet, name of his cast, his costume, etc. And at that point you might as well make an OC that you can trademark/copyright.

And I guess you will be allowed to make a horror movie based of Superman because Horror falls under parody.

Granted with the way the American copyright system works, only what is in the very few public domain issues will be public domain.

It will be many more years to have Superman fly, get married to Lois Lane, be friends with Jimmy Olsen, encounter kryptonite, or have many of his other supporting cast members without the fear of a lawsuit from Warner Brothers.

The version of the Green Lantern which will become public domain in 2036 isn't Hal Jordan, it's Alan Scott; who predated the Green Lantern Core, or any of the sci-fi aspects of the Green Lantern lore. All that will be available is a dude with a green lantern from a dead magic Chinaman who worked for the old railroads. Similarly the Flash being public domain won't bring along the Speed Force, Berry Allen, Wally West, any of the Flash's main villains or supporting cast members. It is essentially the same as making a new character.
Aquaman didn't become Arthur Curry, or the king of Atlantis for many years after his debut, so public domain Aquaman will just be the mysterious golden age Earth-2 Aquaman.

The exception here is Wonder Woman who came basically fully formed right out of the gate. Invisible jet, Amazons, Paradise Islands, Steve Trevor, that was issue no. 1.

Mickey's gonna be slow since his supporting cast is still going to be tied up for years for the most part. The comic strip serials by Floyd Gottfredson starting to lapse next year (including that week of strips with the suicide attempts) should give people something more to work with on Mickey besides "Steamboat Willie but le edgy".
