I don't know the vibes in America but what I do know is Britain is consistently a few years behind whatever the US is doing.

Because the style of storytelling/messaging has become much more noticeably preachy and arrogant. The 'wokeness' as written by RTD is surface level progressivism (read: not progressive), simply flaunting the appearance of diversity and inclusion without making meaningful effort to BE progressive and inclusive or even genuinely express progressive ideas.

Context: After the 2008 financial crash there was increasing anger against the government, the banks, and the media.
