What bothers me in The Walking Dead is they have an alcoholic character that supposedly drinks every night to fall asleep.

And he has no issues with dehydration.
He never drunkenly wanders into walkers.
He speaks coherently.
Doesn't shake.
Not visibly bloated.
Has no aversion to bright lights, or sound.
Quits cold turkey (after implied heavy use) and is fine.

I hate it when writers, who have never suffered, create a character that sounds cool in their head with their deep, tortured past.
BUT has zero basis in reality to make it actually impactful.
