Alien shouldn't have been a franchise. The first movie is perfect as its own standalone film.

It is perfect. The overall atmosphere and music are just the best. I can't even imagine what it might have been like to see this for the first time in theaters when it came out, when there had really not been anything like it before.

The Space Jockey is perfect visual design, such an aura of mystery. Would be a shame if a prequel ruined them haha.

Ironically, much like Weyland Yutani, the corporate greed of 20th Century Fox is corrosive.

It should've been a franchise but with people who made the original involved in the sequels, especially Giger.

Unpopular opinion: I liked Covenant because, unlike Prometheus, it isn't dense and difficult to follow and ties even more loose ends. It was very satisfying to see that.

there aren't any franchises that need to exist, in fact there was a time in living memory when the concept of the "sequel" was frowned upon, it was seen as a cash grab.

the correct way to do it is to open the ip after a popular film so fans can write their own stories.

What does the drinking bird signify? It's in every single movie, but I have not found a satisfactory explanation anywhere.

I don't think that Li Tobler and Giger married. She was apparently quite young. For those who don't know, Li was an early girlfriend of Giger, and a very important muse in his life and art.

The official story, I think, is that she was depressed, and in the recent biopic "Dark Star", Giger appears to show genuine sadness (not to say remorse) when remembering her. There's never been any overt indication of foul play in relation to her suicide, and I am not suggesting that any foul play was involved. Giger seems to have been a reasonable fellow in most regards. However, what I am suggesting is that being around Giger's edgy and negative energy, his drug use etc, probably negatively affected Li herself. Giger's whole "scene" was probably, to some extent, a contributing factor to Li's suicide, and deep down, Giger knew this.
