He wasn't invited by the Jedi, Palpatine appointed him to be a representative for him as part of the war effort. They agreed because Palpatine was up to some shit and they had no idea what and that gave them access. But on the flip side Anakin was essentially a spy for Palpatine so they didn't trust him and didn't give him the title of master because he didn't earn it. All this was part of Palpatine's plan to fuck with everybody.
