Rhaenys kills like a thousand smallfolk and that's fine, but Aegon kills a couple ratcatchers after his son's head is sawed off and he's the worst person ever and otto needs to berate him.

I literally hate every character in this show besides Aegon.

It would be so easy to do this. Literally just have Aegon be a good guy who is just an obstacle in the way for Rhaenyra. Like you as the audience are gonna want to hate him because he's the symbol of the patriarchy that's denying Rhaenyra her "birthright" or whatever, but he's just a standup dude who doesn't understand why his half-sister hates his guts. It would make the narrative and what ends up happening even more powerful because of the tragic nature of it. Have him be a decent man. Have him be raised to be king, but not want it. Have him be forced into it by Otto and his Alicent (who feels she would have wasted her life and the one thing she could control if Aegon did not become king). Have him crash and burn. None of the rapist shit is necessary. None of the Joffrey 2.0 shit.

This would go along nicely with Alicent being modeled more clearly after Cersei with the love for her children in mind. She had her agency stripped from her at a young age, and from like age 15 on is trapped in a marriage with a dude who is literally decaying whom she does not truly love as a husband. She didn't choose to have Aegon, Helena, Daeron, or Aemond, but you know what she can do? She can choose what kind of people they turn out to be. That should be her driving force. She wants Aegon not just to be king, but to be a good one. And that's the conflict with Rhaenyra. Ultimately she'd be fighting a war with her son as a pawn. All because if Rhaenyra wins, it would feel like a failure for Alicent, as the woman who got everything she ever wanted, wins again. And everything Alicent sacrificed means absolutely nothing.

There's a meta aspect with this where the show is so against Aegon it makes me feel like him, like part of the greens, like there's so much bullshit propaganda against us.
It's immersive because it takes the political aspects of our world and merges it with the political aspects of the greens. I'm not saying it's a good thing but work with what you got

Another aspect I really enjoy is the dichotomy between Aegon being the first born son and heir and that being bad and wrong, while the show is just pushing Rhaenyra because we're in a feminist moment and she's the woman. lmao. I like it.
