Paul Giamatti is the most popular actor ever. In his heart and soul he is still Paul but he is such a incredible actor he can act like the coolest guy ever. He wonders if he deserves his success since he's just pretending. Finally, his mom dies and it causes a midlife crisis and it breaks his character, then everyone hates him and the second act is just how a celebrity deals with mass fallout and its a satire.
