Why are Navy Seals traditionally so overrepresented in Hollywood compared to Delta Force?

Delta Force, being under the Army and JSOC (Joint Special Operations Command), avoids public-facing coordination, making access harder for screenwriters. The Navy's always been much more open to P.R.

because when you graduate seal school it comes with a book deal

delta boys generally keep more shit to themselves, sealfags got an overinflated ego since icing bin laden (they can't even agree who killed him because they're all gloryhounds) and haven't been the same since

The Navy Seal that likely got Bin Laden himself openly wants a harem of young femboys so take from that what you will about why they're hard to portray on film.

Navy Seals already have name recognition and are Hollywood approved, all you really need for your go-to "spec ops" guys. Plus they are based in San Diego, so they're convenient for technical advisory stuff. Probably the Army doesn't want a bunch of publicity around Delta since I think they still officially deny their existence.

If you're making a film about any branch of the military you do need DOD coordination or else they're never going to let you use their vehicles as props / have an advisor on set for authenticity purposes. You could still get away with it but it'd be a risk not worth taking.

I hear it is because of trends.
Delta got to do the cool shit in 1990s while SEALs took over in the late 2000s and 2010s.
Before that it was the Green Berets

yes, humvees and Mraps are SOOOOO rare, you totally cant find them rotting at auctions and in the back of police lots

Because there are like 1000 delta guys since inception. Kyle Morgan had an operator number in the 900s. There are like 3-4K navy seals currently active let alone since inception. So they have more stories by definition. We don't even know most of the shit delta has been involved in because there are like 6-7 books about it, beckwith(the found), eric haney, dalton fury, tom satterly, pete blaber. Most of dalton fury's books other than kill bin laden is fiction books as well. There seems to be 5-7 seal books a year.

If the DOD thinks your film is going to boost recruitment they'll rent you those props for insanely cheap though. Scouring police auctions is going to be hell on the budget.

Not how it works. Navy seals are a tier 2 element. Seal team six is tier 1. Green berets are tier 2 along with rangers. Delta is the armies tier 1. They have done plenty. Far more after the 90s than before it. Seals got to kill bin laden because they had priority in afghanistan/pakistan well delta had it in iraq/syria sphere + admiral mccraven put his guys in.

Royal Marines. Smaller force, more stringent recruiting standards, more choosy from the recruiting pool, higher standards in general.
US Marines are good but theyโ€™re not really comparable to the RM. Too big, too bloated (even though theyโ€™re lean compared to the US Army), too many hangers-on compared to the real warriors at the core of the Corps.
Pound for pound the Royal Marines are better.

Delta usually doesn't talk much about it. There are always around maybe 30-40 delta guys at all times. There has been around 1000 total.
Seals are 2-3k and have a bad bad tendency to make things up like lone survivor
Delta force combat stories don't work well on screen because the fire fights and constant contact mean the movie would have to keep going to avoid missing shoot outs. Delta force guys aren't the biggest problem toughest they usually are the most intelligent and adaptive. I only saw two in 3 years deployed. They looked like they were built like Spiderman, didn't talk much and wore what they wanted. Only saw them coming in and when they came back from something. They probably were grabbing a leader is our guess.
Saw a lot of seals. They are more split. Some are bad asses and some are white trash who were genetically gifted.
Air Force para rescue and what were recon marines were total badasses. The recon Marines especially. They were jacked up like NFL players but were the most respectful, clean and just all around good guys. They knew they were near the top of the food chain but did not act like it. Seals it was 50/50. Delta was the best then recon then rangers then para then seals.

Is Bin Laden mission the most overrated operation ever? You get like 20 guys with NVG, supported by gunships, storm a compound (that had its security detail removed and power cut by Paki authorities) and kill a grandpa.
